Bearcats Hit .383 to Sweep Rutgers-Camden (25-14, 25-13, 25-17)

The women’s volleyball team hit for a season-high .383 hitting percentage to sweep the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference match on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

With the result, the Bearcats improve to 12-8 overall, while Rutgers-Camden fall to 9-14.

Freshman
Sara Stephani had her finest match with 12 kills on a .stellar .625 hitting percentage, while sophomore Rebecca Peralta also tallied double-digits in kills with 10 (.350) to go along with seven digs.

Melinda Santiago dished out 24 assists, Lauren Hayden recorded five kills, and Megan Moody had four kills (.444) and digs each to lead the Bearcats to their second consecutive victory against a team from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

Jessica Wu, the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, totaled seven aces, including five straight at the end of the second set. Posey Wilson led the team again with 11 digs.

Olivia Murphy led Rutgers-Camden this evening with six kills and five digs.

The women’s volleyball team will resume action on Columbus Day, Monday, October 10, when they will compete in the CUNYAC Multi-Match hosted by the College of Staten Island. The Bearcats will play John Jay College of Criminal Justice at 11:00 am, followed by Lehman College at 1:00 pm.
