11/22/2011 9:34:00 PM

Box Score The bench scored 33 of the 46 points to lead the Bearcats to a 46-40 victory over the Rams of Farmingdale State in a non-conference game on Tuesday night in Farmingdale, New York.

The two teams struggled shooting from the field (Baruch 29.5%; Farm. 19.1%) and three-point range (Baruch 1-9; Farm. 0-13) as Farmingdale only led 14-11 at halftime.

The Bearcats would continue to trail 25-24 with 9:28 left in the game, but a layup by
Folashade Akinde gave the visiting Bearcats a 26-25 advantage at 9:16. They would never relinquish that lead the rest of the game as they pulled away late for the 46-40 low scoring victory.

The Bearcats shot 40 percent (14-35) in the second half and outscored Farmingdale by a 35-26 margin to defeat their opponent who plays in the Skyline Conference.

Kiara Johnson scored 10 of her team-high 14 points in the improved second half to help the Bearcats raise their season record to 3-1. Melissa Jackson recorded her season debut as the second best scorer with six points and five rebounds.

Jessica Duleba, the CUNYAC Player of the Week, led with a team-high nine rebounds.

The 46 points marks the first time the Baruch offense has scored 50 points or less since November 16, 2006, versus Brockport State (51-40 loss) at the New Jersey City University Tip-Off Tournament.

Kayla Koch and Dominique Cunningham led Farmingdale with seven points each to drop to a 1-3 season record.

The women’s basketball team will return to action
during the holiday weekend on Saturday, November 26, to play #4 nationally-ranked William Paterson University from the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

Tip off in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 2:00 pm and is available to follow
