#13 Bearcats Defeat York (3-1) and Brooklyn (3-0) in First CUNYAC Multi-Match

The #13-ranked men’s volleyball team defeated York and Brooklyn on Saturday at home in the ARC Arena as part of the first CUNYAC Multi-Match Event of the season.

The Bearcats (5-9, 3-0 CUNYAC) began by sweeping Brooklyn (1-1, 1-2 CUNYAC) in three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-12.

Pablo Oliveira led the way with nine kills (.462) and Eryk Kowalski had six kills with a solid .713 hitting percentage. Jesus Echevarria dished out 24 assists and recorded four kills (.571).

Alexander Melosevich led Brooklyn with nine total kills.

The Bearcats dominated with 39 total kills (.426), compared to only 17 (-.045) by Brooklyn.

In the second match, the Bearcats defeated York (2-2, 2-1 CUNYAC) in four sets with scores of 25-16, 25-9, 22-25, 25-18.

Oliveira was the top player again with 12 kills (.381), while Echevarria totaled 23 assists, nine digs and eight kills (.438).
Ray Satagaj (.556) and Steven Coniglio (.417) finished with six kills each.

Ahmed Helmi led York with 21 kills (.395) and six digs.

The men’s volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, February 8th, with a 7:00 pm CUNYAC home contest against rival Hunter College.
