#13 Bearcats Sweep Hunter (25-15, 25-19, 25-23)

The #13-ranked men’s volleyball team swept the Hawks of Hunter College in a CUNYAC home contest on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (6-9, 4-0 CUNYAC) recorded a 25-15, 25-19 (.435), 25-23 victory to stay undefeated in CUNYAC, while the visiting Hawks (4-7, 3-1 CUNYAC) suffer their first conference loss.

The Bearcats totaled 41 kills with a .311 hitting percentage, while Hunter struggled with 34 kills and a .163 percentage.

Hunter led 22-19 in the third set and appeared to force a fourth set between the two fierce conference rivals, but
Pablo Oliveira took over with two kills and two aces to help Baruch rally for the 25-23 third set victory.

Oliveira led the team again with 13 kills and six digs, while Vincent Cruz totaled nine kills (.389).
Eryk Kowalski (eight kills, .467), Jesus Echevarria (34 assists, seven digs) and Steven Coniglio (six kills) all had a solid match.

Braien Otsla led Hunter with 17 kills.

The men’s volleyball team will return to action on Saturday, February 12th, by competing at the Endicott College Invitational in Beverly, Massachusetts. The Bearcats will play SUNY-IT (1:00 pm) and Vassar College (5:00 pm) in the first day of competition.
