Men's Volleyball Result: #1 Springfield 3, #7 Baruch 0 (25-11, 25-22, 28-26)

The #7-ranked men’s volleyball team lost to #1-ranked Springfield College in three sets in a non-conference contest on Thursday night in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The home team Pride (10-11) started strong by winning the first set 25-11 with a .474 hitting percentage, followed by taking the second set with a competitive 25-22 score by hitting .552.

The visiting Bearcats (25-12) regained their composure and played a solid third set. They took a late lead of 24-21 on a kill by freshman
Ray Satagaj for set point, but the Pride rallied to tie the match at 24.

The two teams battled and were tied again at 26, but Springfield scored the final two points to avert losing a set to record the 25-11, 25-22, 28-26 sweep.

Overall, Springfield totaled 44 kills this evening for a .388 hitting percentage, while Baruch finished with 29 kills to hit .109.

Pablo Oliveira had another solid match against a ranked opponent with 18 kills, while freshman Steven Coniglio finished with five kills. Jesus Echevarria dished out 24 assists and collected four digs. 

Alberto Bravo led Springfield with 12 kills (.500) and three blocks.

The Baruch men’s volleyball team will enjoy a brief break and resume their competitive non-conference schedule on Thursday, March 17, with a 7:00 pm match at #15-ranked SUNY-New Paltz. To follow the action via Live Stats on your computer, CLICK HERE.
