The #7-ranked men’s volleyball team finished their regular season schedule on a winning note by defeating #15-ranked Vassar College in a five set rally on Wednesday night in Poughkeepsie, New York.

The visiting Bearcats (31-13) started the non-conference match by losing the first two sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-20, but rallied to win the next three sets with scores of 25-20, 25-22, 15-11 to stun the Brewers (17-12) on their home court.

The Bearcats struggled early by hitting only .171 and .125 in the opening two set losses, but came alive late to win the last three sets by hitting .500, .355 and .556 to avert the upset against a lower ranked team.

Defensively, Oliveira (12 digs), Coniglio (four blocks), and
Nick Smith (11 digs) recorded strong numbers for the team’s 31st victory of the year.

Evan Fredericksen led Vassar with a match-high 23 kills and John Konow dished out 48 assists.

The Bearcats will turn their attention to North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Postseason Tournament that will get underway on Friday, April 1, in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Baruch, the #3-seed, will play #14-seed Ramapo College on Friday with the first serve scheduled for 12:00 pm.

The 16-team tournament will be hosted by the Stevens Institute of Technology and the winner will earn an automatic berth to the Molten Final Four, which is scheduled for April 15-16 in Rochester, New York.
