Bearcats Fall to Ramapo (12-1)

The baseball team lost a 12-1 non-conference contest to the Road Runners of Ramapo College on Sunday morning at MCU Park in Coney Island.

The Road Runners (16-6) from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) jumped out early to a 6-1 lead and broke open the game with six more runs in the fourth inning to record the victory in the minor league stadium owned by the New York Mets affiliate the Brooklyn Cyclones.

The Bearcats (9-13) scored their only run in the second inning when
Joseph Morelli smacked an RBI double to score John Yuksekol. Jason Valentin had another solid performance in relief and pitched 5.2 scoreless innings with four hits, two walks and one strikeout.

Peter Dacenko and Rob Imperio led the Road Runners with three hits each. Dacenko finished with six RBI and hit a grand slam home run in the third inning.

Overall, the Road Runners (no errors) scored 12 runs on 13 hits and left nine men on base, while the Bearcats (two errors) scored their one run on six hits and left six men on base.

The baseball team will return to action on Tuesday, April 12, with a 3:30 pm non-conference contest at the State University of New York at Purchase.
