UPDATED BOX SCORE

The men’s soccer team lost their season-opener to the Cyclones of Centenary College by the score of 2-0 in a non-conference contest played on Thursday afternoon in Hackettstown, New Jersey.

The Cyclones from the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) scored a goal in each half to avenge a 2-0 defeat to Baruch in last season’s 2010 opener played at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.

The home team Cyclones scored their first in the 17th minute with Quinn Khouri taking advantage of a defensive miscue to score the opening goal. They added a second goal on a penalty kick by Andrew Pinnella in the 50th minute and held on for the 2-0 shutout victory that also included a 19-14 advantage on shots.

Fardad Sabzevari led Baruch with five shots and Jonas Juozaitis finished with two. Goalkeeper Michael Murphy recorded seven total saves.

The Bearcats will return to action during the upcoming holiday weekend as they will compete in the Lasell Tournament in Newton, Massachusetts. The team will begin tournament play on Saturday against SUNY-Potsdam in a match scheduled for 2:30 pm. (
