Bearcats Win Two of Three at FDU-Florham Quad

The women’s volleyball team won two of their three matches played at the Quad hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham on Friday in Madison, New Jersey.

The Bearcats (9-5) began by sweeping Arcadia University (2-6) from the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) in three sets with scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-20.

Jessica Wu led the attack with eight kills, five aces and 10 digs.
Sara Stephani totaled a team-high 10 kills, while Lauren Hayden finished with nine kills. Melinda Santiago dished out 25 assists in the victory.

In the second match, the Bearcats suffered a loss to one of the region’s tougher teams by losing in three sets to FDU-Florham (15-3) with scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-15.

Jessica Wu led the Bearcats with eight kills and seven digs, while Posey Wilson totaled 17 digs. Michelle Stommes recorded four blocks to go along with six digs.

FDU-Florham, which is also a member of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), controlled the action in the match with 44 total kills (.278), while Baruch totaled 20 kills.

The Bearcats wrapped up their participation in the Quad with a 25-13, 25-9, 25-9 sweep over the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights (3-5) from the New Jersey Athletic Conference.


Rebecca Peralta led the attack with eight kills and Megan Moody finished a solid all-around effort with 20 assists, eight service aces and two kills.

The women's volleyball team will enjoy a brief break in their schedule and return to action next Friday, September 30, as they will head across the river to Hoboken, New Jersey to compete in the Ducks Invitational hosted by the Stevens Institute of Technology.

The Bearcats will play NYU-Poly from the Skyline Conference at 4:00 pm, followed by playing #21 nationally-ranked SUNY-Cortland from the SUNYAC at 6:00 pm.
