Women's Volleyball Defeats NYU-Poly, Drop Heartbreaker to #19 SUNY-Cortland

The women’s volleyball team went 1-1 in the first day of the Ducks Invitational hosted by the Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The Bearcats began the afternoon by defeating NYU-Poly from the
Skyline Conference in four sets (25-21, 32-34, 25-22, 25-16), but suffered a heartbreaking loss in the second match as #19-ranked SUNY-Cortland rallied in five sets (28-30, 18-25, 25-11, 25-18, 15-7) to avoid the upset to the Bearcats.

Against NYU-Poly,
Jessica Wu had a solid all-around match with 20 kills, 16 digs and three blocks. Posey Wilson collected 28 digs and Lauren Hayden finished with 11 kills and five blocks. Rebecca Peralta totaled 12 digs.

In the second match against Cortland from the
SUNYAC, Hayden led the Baruch attack with 13 kills and four blocks. Megan Moody had 12 kills and Wilson finished another busy defensive effort with 23 digs to go along with four aces. Sara Stephani totaled three blocks.

The Bearcats will return to action in the second day of the Ducks Invitational on Saturday with a 10:00 am match against the host Stevens Institute of Technology from the Empire 8 Conference at 10:00 am, followed by a 12:00 pm match against Richard Stockton College from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
