#14 Bearcats Lose Tough Matches to #3 Springfield and #4 Juniata

The men’s volleyball team was busy on Saturday competing at the Springfield College Invitational in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The Bearcats played two of the top five teams currently ranked in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Div. III Poll.

They began with a morning match against #4-ranked Juniata College and lost in four competitive sets with scores of 16-25, 25-23, 23-25, 18-25.


Jack McKee led the attack again with 15 kills hitting .310. Steven Coniglio had 10 kills and Vincent Cruz finished with eight kills hitting .500 to go along with three blocks.

Danny Olson dished out 36 assists and Arnold Situmeang totaled a team-high nine digs.

In the second match, against the invitational hosts and #3-ranked Springfield College, the Bearcats fell in three with scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-22. The third set featured 16 ties and seven lead changes.


Nick Smith and Jack McKee led the Bearcats with eight kills each, while Danny Olson dished out 26 assists in the tough loss.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, March 30, with a pair of matches at the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, New York. They will battle the invitational hosts and #11-ranked Vassar at 2:00 pm, follow by a match later in the evening at 8:00 pm against Lancaster Bible.
