Manhattanville Edges Bearcats (12-11), Thomas Daly Bats 4-for-5 with 6 RBI, 3 Runs, 2 Doubles

The baseball team lost a disappointing 12-11 non-conference contest to the Valiants of Manhattanville College on Wednesday afternoon in Purchase, New York.

For the 14th time in 25 games this season, the Bearcats scored six or more runs. Today, they scored 11 runs on 11 hits, but were hurt by four errors in losing to a solid team that competes in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

The visiting Bearcats led early 7-2, but the Valiants battled back by scoring six runs in the fourth inning to lead 8-7. The Bearcats scored three runs in the sixth inning to recover the advantage to lead 10-8, but the Valiants stormed back again with four more runs in the eighth inning to secure the 12-11 home victory.


Thomas Daly had a monster game for the Bearcats again by batting 4-for-5, with six RBI, three runs scored, three stolen bases and two doubles.

Other Baruch highlights this afternoon included
Steve Hession (2-for-4, three runs scored), Ricky Gerbino (three stolen bases, two runs), and Alvin Mata (two runs) contributing to the 11 runs scored.

The Bearcats will continue their busy Spring Break schedule on Thursday, April 12, with a rescheduled CUNYAC doubleheader at CCNY. First pitch at Salesian High School Baseball Field in New Rochelle, New York is scheduled for 12:00 pm.

The two teams were initially scheduled to play on March 31, but it was rained out.
