Bearcats Can't Overcome Fast Start by Old Westbury, Drop 9-4 Contest

The Bearcats lost a 9-4 non-conference contest to the State University of New York at Old Westbury on Thursday afternoon at MCU Park in Brooklyn, New York.

The visiting Panthers (24-9) from the Skyline Conference scored the first four runs and led by as much as 9-2 midway through the game en route to the victory.

The Bearcats (17-15) scored four runs on nine hits, but were unable to generate any more offense to avoid a three game losing streak to non-conference opponents.


Steve Hession had a solid day at the plate batting 3-for-5, with a two RBI single in the third inning. He also scored a run in the ninth inning on a fielding error by Old Westbury.

Thommy DeJesus batted 2-for-4, with an RBI single in the third inning to score Yancy Taveras.

The baseball team will return to action on Saturday, April 21, with a 12:00 pm CUNYAC doubleheader at the College of Staten Island in a battle for first place.
