The baseball team lost an ECAC Metro Postseason Championship semifinal contest to FDU-Florham by the score of 9-3 on Saturday afternoon in Hoboken, New Jersey.

With the result, the season comes to an end for the Bearcats with a 22-20 record. The 22 wins are a baseball team record for most wins in a season.

“I am disappointed by today’s loss but proud of the way the season turned out and the effort we put forth by battling to the last out," said Head Coach Jose Torres. "We laid the foundation for years to come and we just have to keep following the path."

FDU-Florham jumped to a 4-0 lead and led 6-1 after five innings to control the action early.  The Bearcats rallied in the seventh inning with the bases loaded, but could only manage to score one run.

FDU-Florham shut down the Bearcats the rest of the way en route to the victory to advance to Sunday’s championship game against the Stevens Institute of Technology.

Overall, FDU-Florham totaled nine runs on 12 hits, while the Bearcats had three runs on seven hits.

Justin Torres (2-3), Steve Hession (2-4, 2 runs, double) and Thomas Daly (2-4, double) each had two hits in the tough postseason playoff loss.
