Women's Volleyball Sweeps CCNY, Team 4-0 in CUNYAC

The women’s volleyball team stretched their winning streak to five by sweeping CCNY in a CUNYAC home match played on Friday evening in the ARC Arena.

With the result, the Bearcats improve to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in the CUNYAC, while the visiting Beavers drop to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the CUNYAC.

The Bearcats took control of the first set by jumping out to a 7-0 lead. They cruised to the opening set 25-13 victory, and followed up with scores of 25-14 and 25-11 to record the 3-0 victory.


Rebecca Peralta led the attack this evening with 14 kills hitting .524. She also added 10 digs and four service aces.  Lauren Hayden totaled nine kills hitting .533 with three service aces.

McKenzie Davidson (8 kills, 6 digs, 5 assists), Melinda Santiago (20 assists), Crystle Dela Cruz (12 assists, 3 digs), and Amy Sung (7 digs) also had a solid effort to keep the Bearcats undefeated in conference play.

Overall, the Bearcats totaled 42 kills hitting .400, while the Beavers struggled with 16 kills hitting .058.

Saye-Chantl Joseph led the visitors with five kills hitting. 364.

The women’s volleyball team will return to action tomorrow morning, Saturday, September 15, as they will travel to northern New Jersey to compete in the Ramapo Quad against Manhattanville (10:00 am), Rutgers-Newark (1:00 pm), and Ramapo (3:00 pm).
