Box Score

The women's volleyball team lost a disappointing non-conference home contest to SUNY-New Paltz on Wednesday evening in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats started in the best possible way by winning the first two sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-20, but the visiting Hawks from the SUNY Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rallied in dramatic fashion by winning 25-14, 25-17, 15-12 to capture the important regional victory.

With the result, the Bearcats streak of nine consecutive victories comes to an abrupt end. They drop to 10-5 overall, while the Hawks improve to 15-3.

Rebecca Peralta, who currently sits in sixth place overall in service aces in the latest NCAA Division III statistics report, led the attack with 18 kills and 12 digs.

McKenzie Davidson (11 kills, 16 digs), Jessica Wu (11 kills, 13 digs), Melinda Santiago (42 assists, 19 digs), and Amy Sung (16 digs) all contributed solid numbers in the tough defeat.

Becca Burquist led the Hawks with 14 kills and digs each.

The women's volleyball team will look to put the disappointment behind them as they return to action Friday at the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks Invitational in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The team has opening day matches scheduled against Richard Stockton (4:00 pm) and Elmira (6:00 pm).
