The women's volleyball team went 1-1 in the first day of the Stevens Tech Ducks Invitational played on Friday in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The Bearcats lost their opening match to Richard Stockton College from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) with scores of 25-21, 25-17, 25-15.

Melinda Santiago was the top player with 24 assists and 10 digs. Rebecca Peralta notched nine kills and Jessica Wu finished with eight kills and nine digs.

In the second match, the Bearcats defeated an opponent that they have lost to a number of times over the years. They defeated Elmira College from the Empire 8 Conference in a sweep with scores of 25-18, 25-10, 31-29.

Peralta came up big again with nine kills and 12 digs. McKenzie Davidson totaled eight kills and 13 digs, while Santiago finished with 29 assists and 10 digs. Lauren Hayden also contributed to the victory with seven kills.

The Bearcats will return to action Saturday morning with a match against invitational hosts Stevens Tech at 10:00 am. The match is available via live stats. They will also play NYU-Poly at 12:00 pm.
