The women's volleyball team lost a hard fought match in four sets to Western Connecticut State University on Thursday evening in Danbury, Connecticut.

The visiting Bearcats (12-12) started strong by winning the first set, 31-29, but the Colonials (18-5) came back to win the next three sets with scores of 16-25, 21-25, 23-25 to record the victory.

The Bearcats had a slightly better hitting percentage against WestConn with .138 compared to .114, but could only muster 38 kills compared to 46 by the winners.


Rebecca Peralta (26 digs) and McKenzie Davidson (16 digs) led a balanced attack with 10 kills each, while Michelle Stommes and Sydney Parks finished with six kills each.

Crystle Dela Cruz had a solid all-around match with 38 assists, 17 digs and five kills. Nicole Lockwood had 19 digs and Amy Sung had 18 digs.

The Bearcats will hit the road again on Saturday, October 19, traveling down the New Jersey Turnpike near Philadelphia for a Tri-Match hosted by Rowan University.

They play Gwynedd-Mercy College from the Colonial States Athletic Conference at 1:00 pm, followed by Rowan University from the New Jersey Athletic Conference at 3:00 pm.
