Box Score

The baseball team lost their season opener to the Hawks of New Paltz State by the score of 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Silver Lake Park in Valhalla, New York.

The first two batters for the Hawks scored in the first inning and ECAC Upstate/SUNYAC Pitcher of the Year Chris Chisma kept the Bearcats scoreless for the season-opening shutout victory.

The Hawks started with a single and double for runners on second and third. They scored first on an RBI groundout and the second on a wild pitch for the 2-0 lead.

Sophomore pitcher
Paul Perez (8IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 4K) overcame the rough start and would be near perfect the rest of the game by retiring 24 straight. He did not walk any batters and struck out four in one of the best season-opening performances in team history

Unfortunately, the Baruch offense could only manage three hits and left the bases loaded with no outs in the sixth inning to suffer the disappointing defeat.

Nicholas Pomo-Roman had two singles and Daniel Arango had one to account for the three hits on a quiet offensive afternoon.

The baseball team is scheduled to return to action on Sunday, February 24, against SUNY-Brockport at the Kean University baseball field in Union, New Jersey. The exact time (10:00 am or 2:00 pm) will be determined Saturday afternoon and is dependent on the weather.

Brockport is scheduled to play #7 Kean on Saturday, and if it is postponed, it will be pushed to Sunday at 10:00 am, thereby pushing Baruch-Brockport to 2:00 pm. If Kean-Brockport play Saturday, then the Baruch-Brockport Sunday game will start at 10:00 am.
