The #9-ranked men’s volleyball team swept a pair of CUNYAC matches on Thursday night against the Beavers from the City College of New York.

The two teams were originally scheduled to only play one match, but following the CUNYAC multi-match postponement by snow on February 9, the teams agreed to play twice this evening.

In the first match, the Bearcats swept with scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-14 as Steven Coniglio (.727), Nick Smith (.429) and Brian Monaghan (.615) each notched eight kills to halt the Beavers’ six match winning streak.

Scott Standring, named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week for the third time, led the way with 24 assists.

In the second match, the Bearcats cruised again to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-14 victory to run their season record to 15-4 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the CUNYAC.

Jack McKee had a big match with eight kills hitting .800 to go along with four blocks and three aces. Brady Ambro contributed seven kills and four digs. Gabe Rivera had five kills hitting .714.

The Bearcats will return to action with a pair of CUNYAC home contests against Medgar Evers College on Tuesday, March 19, starting at 5:00 pm.
