#8 Men's Volleyball Win Three Matches at Mount St. Vincent Quad, Defeat #13 Elmira in Five

The #8-ranked men’s volleyball team won all three of their matches on Sunday at the Quad hosted by the College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, New York.

The Bearcats swept the host Mount St. Vincent with scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-18 by hitting .405 with 38 total kills.


Jack McKee (.600), Joseph Curry (.857) and Aviv Elias (.333) led the attack with six kills each. Brian Coniglio received the start and dished out 32 assists for the quick victory.

In the second match, the Bearcats also quickly defeated winless Cazenovia College (0-18) with scores of 25-5, 25-14, 25-8.


Joseph Curry (.556) and Elias led with six kills each. Elias also contributed seven aces. Brady Ambro finished with four kills.

The third match was the marquee match between the #8-ranked Bearcats and #13-ranked Elmira. As expected, the match went the distance with the Bearcats winning in five sets in an exciting comeback with scores of 21-25, 25-20, 23-25, 27-25, 16-14.

Elmira twice had match point in each of the fourth and fifth sets, but the Bearcats never lost their composure and battled back to stretch their overall winning streak to 10 in a row.

The 10-match winning streak is the biggest since the team won 14 in a row during the 2011 season.


Scott Standring, a three-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week and one-time Player of the Week, led in the important victory with 45 assists and 24 digs.

Martin Joksimovik and Steven Coniglio each had 13 kills. Joksimovik also contributed eight blocks.

McKee totaled 12 kills, 16 digs and five blocks. Chris Kaimis had 10 kills, 15 digs and five blocks.

The Bearcats finished hitting .235 with 56 kills. They also totaled a season-high 107 digs.

Elmira had 72 kills, but hit only .207 with 22 service errors.

The men’s volleyball team will continue their schedule on Wednesday, March 27, with a trip down to Owings Mills, Maryland to compete in the Stevenson Tri-Match. (Baruch is on Spring Break this week)

They will play Lancaster Bible at 5:00 pm and the host Stevenson, which is currently-ranked #9, at 7:00 pm. (Live Stats/Video Available)
