The baseball team lost a 6-5 non-conference contest to #9-ranked Ramapo College on Thursday afternoon at the Bronx Community College Baseball Field.

The loss drops the Bearcats to 5-8 overall, while the Roadrunners from Ramapo College of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) continue their solid start to 11-1.

The Bearcats started off well by jumping out to a 3-0 lead.

Their scored their first run in the second inning.

In the third inning,
Keith Ezersky reached base on an infield error and Jasdeep Buttar doubled for runners on second and third base again. Nicholas Pomo-Roman hit an RBI ground out to score Ezersky and Angel Tejeda followed up with another RBI ground out to score Buttar for the 3-0 lead.

The Roadrunners came back strong with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth for the 5-3 advantage. They added another insurance run in the eighth for a 6-3 lead,
which would prove crucial in the end.

The Bearcats rallied and got as close as 6-5 with two runs in their bottom half of the eight inning. Yuksekol hit a sacrifice fly RBI to score Buttar and Pomo-Roman scored on an infielder’s choice.

Unfortunately, the Bearcats could not score more runs and suffered a very competitive 6-5 loss to the nationally-ranked program from Mahwah, New Jersey.

The baseball team will return to action on Saturday, March 30, with a 12:00 pm CUNYAC home doubleheader against The City College of New York (CCNY).
