The men’s volleyball team swept a pair of CUNYAC matches this evening at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in uptown New York City.

The two victories stretch the team’s winning streak to 16 in a row, which is a team record. The Bearcats are now 28-4 and a perfect 13-0 in the CUNYAC.

The two teams were forced to play two matches this evening after the first originally scheduled match on March 2 was postponed. As a result, the first match was the rescheduled contest from March 2, while the second was played as originally scheduled.

The Bearcats won the first contest with scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-10.

Brian Monaghan (.545) and Aviv Elias (.750) recorded seven kills each, while Brian Coniglio dished out 21 assists in the quick victory.

The Bearcats totaled 40 kills hitting .486 as a team. John Jay had 16 kills hitting a negative .016.

In the second match, the Bearcats posted a 25-13, 25-9, 25-18 scores for the 16th straight victory.

Jack McKee the CUNYAC Player of the Week along with Martin Joksimovik as Top Rookie, led the attack with six kills and three blocks.

Chris Kaimis notched eight kills hitting .727 as the Bearcats continue undefeated in conference play.

The men’s volleyball team, which moved up one spot this week to #7 in the AVCA Division III Poll, will return to action on Thursday, April 4, with a non-conference road match at NYU scheduled for 7:00 pm.
