The women's basketball team won a 66-57 CUNYAC road contest at John Jay College of Criminal Justice on Friday night at the "Doghouse".

The Bloodhounds, coached by alum '07, former Baruch point guard (433 assists), and 2005-06 CUNYAC Women's Basketball Champion Diane Ramirez, gave the visiting Bearcats all they could handle in the first half.

They jumped out to an early 10 point lead (16-6), but the Bearcats battled back with 13 straight points to go ahead 19-16 with 7:13 remaining before halftime.

The Bearcats finished the half by attempting twice as many shots (12-for-38) for a four point (30-26) lead, but the home team stayed close by shooting 52.6 percent (10-for-19).

During the second half, the Bearcats took control with consecutive 3-pointers by Kristen Podlovits and Francess Henry for a 51-44 lead with under nine minutes left.

The lead would later grow to a comfortable 12 points (62-50) on a jumper by Alicea Ulmer and that was enough for the victory at the "Doghouse".

Sheridan Taylor recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 13 points, 14 rebounds and two steals. Ulmer finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Henry finished with 11 points and Podlovits had another productive game with 10 points. Iyana Abrams notched four steals.

The Bloodhounds finished shooting 46.8 percent (22-for-47). They were led in the scoring column by Tyana Hale with 19 points and two steals.

The women's basketball team will return home to the ARC Arena on Wednesday, January 29, with a 5:30 pm CUNYAC home game against York College.
