Women's Volleyball Travels to Southern NJ to Compete in Richard Stockton Tri-Match

The women's volleyball team dropped two matches on Saturday afternoon at a tri-match hosted by Richard Stockton College in Stockton, New Jersey.

The Bearcats (11-15) started by playing the Violets of New York University (18-14) and lost in straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-13.

The Violets from the
University Athletic Association (UAA) hit .314 with 40 kills to take control of the neutral site match.  


Symone Green and Nicole Rios led the attack with six kills each. McKenzie Davidson (17 digs), Crystle Dela Cruz (21 assists, 10 digs) and Amy Sung (14 kills) all contributed solid numbers.

In the second match, the Bearcats took on the Ospreys from Richard Stockton College (25-4)  and suffered a 25-15, 25-22, 25-17 loss.

The Ospreys from the
New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) hit .309 with 41 kills. The Bearcats totaled 25 kills hitting .098.


Akilah Meulens led the team with eight kills hitting .333. Sung finished with 13 digs on the defensive end.

The women's volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, October 28, with a 6:00 pm CUNYAC contest at Brooklyn College.
