Women's Volleyball Defeats Brooklyn in Four, Amy Sung Named CUNYAC Libero of the Week

The women's volleyball team finished the CUNYAC regular season portion of their schedule on Tuesday night with a four-set victory against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College.

The visiting Bearcats stumbled in the first set as the Bulldogs behind the energy of their Senior Night crowd won, 25-20.

The Bearcats responded by winning the next three sets (25-19, 25-11, 25-14), including hitting .303 in the fourth, to record the victory. They totaled 41 kills compared to 26 by the home team.


Akilah Meulens and McKenzie Davidson led the Bearcats each with 10 kills. Davidson also totaled a career-high 26 digs in another all-around effort.

Amy Sung, the CUNYAC Libero of the Week (for the fifth time) established her career-high this evening with 37 digs, while Crystle Dela Cruz dished out 34 assists and four aces. Sydney Parks totaled three blocks.

Sasha Roopchand led the hosts with 10 kills and 21 digs.

The Bearcats will finish their regular season schedule this weekend at the SUNY-Oneonta Dig Pink Invitational in Central New York State. They will begin play Friday at 6:30pm with a match against Bard College from the one of the tougher conferences in the region the Liberty League
.
