The #13-ranked men's volleyball team defeated the Wentworth Institute of Technology in four sets, but fell to #3-ranked Springfield College Pride in five in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The Bearcats started play against Wentworth and avoided an upset by winning with scores of 25-12, 25-22, 23-25, 29-27 behind a solid hitting percentage of .381.

Jack McKee led the attack with 20 kills by hitting .410 with 10 digs and four blocks. Chris Kaimis had 15 kills by hitting .419, and totaled 12 digs and four blocks.

Scott Standring dished out 46 assists with six digs and four blocks. Man Wai Choi came up big in the back with a team-high 17 digs.

The two teams were tied at 25 in the fourth set, but a kill by Kaimis and several attack errors by Wentworth enabled the Bearcats to record the hard-fought 29-27 victory.

In the second match, the Bearcats took on the hosts Springfield in a rematch of last year's NCAA semifinal (Springfield won in five sets, 15-13).

The Bearcats started strong and seemed to own all the momentum with a 25-18 opening set win, but the Pride came back to win the next two sets. The Bearcats dominated in the fourth, but the Pride pulled away in the second set by notching seven of the last nine points to record their third five-set win in the last four meetings between these two teams.

McKee had another 20-kill effort with 11 digs. Standring dished out 38 assists and totaled seven digs. Kaimis was busy again with 13 kills and nine digs in the road loss.

The Bearcats will return to action on Monday, March 3, with a 7:30 pm CUNYAC home contest in the ARC Arena against York College.
