Box Score

The Ducks (6-1, 1-0 CUNYAC) from the Stevens Institute of Technology won a pitching duel, 1-0, with a two out, walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Bearcats on Saturday afternoon in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Nicholas Sieber smacked the game-winning hit through the left side of the infield to bring home Michael Mule with two outs in the CUNYAC opener for both teams.

Paul Perez, the CUNYAC Pitcher of the Week, was outstanding on the mound with a line of 8.2 innings, seven hits, three strikeouts and one run allowed to suffer the tough road loss.

The Bearcats (3-6, 0-1 CUNYAC) managed to get only three runners on base on a pleasant and warm afternoon on the banks of the Hudson River in New Jersey.

Eric Ulino and Juan Balbuena each had a single to get two runners on base in the sixth inning, but could not score.

The baseball team will return to action on Sunday with a rescheduled non-conference contest against the State University of New York at Old Westbury. First pitch in a game to be played at the St. Joseph's College Baseball Complex in Patchogue on Long Island will start at 2:00 pm.
