The No. 13 men's volleyball team lost in five sets (25-22, 23-25, 25-11, 19-25, 12-15) to No. 14 Kean University in a match played on Tuesday night in Union, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats started by jumping out to a 2-1 set lead and hit .588 in the third to win convincingly, 25-11.

Their fortunes quickly changed with the Cougars capturing the fourth set as the Bearcats struggled hitting a negative .057.

The two teams were tied at four in the fifth set tie-breaker, but the Cougars tallied six of the next eight points for a 10-6 advantage. The Bearcats could not recover and fell in the tie-break, 15-12.

Jack McKee led the team with 22 kills, six digs and five blocks. Chris Kaimis had a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs.

Scott Standring had 45 assists and Brendan Murphy recorded a career-high 18 digs in the five-set loss.    

The men's volleyball team will return to action at home in the ARC Arena on Thursday, March 27, with a 7:00 pm contest against neighbor New York University
