The men's volleyball team defeated the Violets of New York University in five sets in an exciting match between two lower Manhattan neighbors on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (21-9) started with a 25-20 victory and escaped the second set with a 26-24 victory thanks to two late errors by the Violets (14-10).

Jack McKee notched five kills and Steven Coniglio slammed home the winning point off an assist by Scott Standring to pull out a 15-12 win.

McKee tied his season-high with 23 kills (.313), while Standring finished with 36 assists, five digs and three blocks in the home win.

Brady Ambro had eight digs and Chris Kaimis had seven kills to help lead the Bearcats to their 21st win.

The Bearcats struggled hitting only .117, but took advantage of 22 service errors by the Violets.

The Bearcats will next host the CUNYAC Multi-Match on Saturday, March 29 with all eight conference teams descending upon the ARC Arena and Auxiliary Gym for a pair of matches. The Bearcats will play Lehman at 12:00 pm and rival Hunter at 2:00 pm.
