2014 Men's Volleyball Senior Night

Men's Volleyball Honors Jack McKee & Steven Coniglio on Sr. Night, Team Splits Two Matches

The men's volleyball team celebrated Senior Night by playing a pair of matches on Tuesday in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats started the special evening by defeating CUNYAC foe John Jay College of Criminal Justice in three with scores of 25-12, 25-9, 25-10.

The team hit .556 (34 kills), including .688 in the first set, to finish their CUNYAC regular season schedule at 14-0 for the second straight season. Senior
Jack McKee led the way with 11 kills (.556) and Chris Kaimis collected eight digs for the conference victory.

Jack Palleschi led the visiting Bloodhounds with 11 kills.

Prior to the start of the second match, the team and Head Coach Danial Levent honored seniors Jack McKee and
Steven Coniglio for their outstanding four years that has featured three CUNYAC Championships and two NCAA appearances.

The Bearcats then played No. 3 ranked New Paltz in front of the biggest home men's volleyball crowd of the season, but lost in three sets 25-19, 26-24, 25-22.

The visiting Hawks, who spent a portion of this season ranked No. 1, started by hitting .433 in the first set and finished .371 with 44 total kills to record the late season non-conference victory in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats had their moments and led 21-16 during the second set, but the Hawks rallied to squeeze out the narrow 26-24 victory.

McKee led the attack this evening with 13 kills and Kaimis finished with seven kills and five digs in the tough loss.
Scott Standring dished out 26 assists and had four digs.

Tim Ferriter (.348) and Brian Smith led the Hawks (22-3) with 11 kills each.  

The men's volleyball team will return to action in the ARC Arena on Tuesday, April 8 with an 8:00 pm CUNYAC Tournament quarterfinal contest against Medgar Evers.

The entire tournament schedule will be released later this week and Baruch College is scheduled to host the semifinals/final (free tickets link) on Friday, April 11.
