Bearcats Fall Behind Early, Drop 6-3 Game to St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) at MCU Park

The baseball team lost a 6-3 contest to St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon at MCU Park in Brooklyn, New York.

The non-conference loss drops the Bearcats to 6-11 overall, while the independent Bears improve to 10-6.

The visiting Bearcats struggled early and fell behind 5-0 after five innings.

The bats finally came alive in the sixth inning as
Angel Tejeda smacked a three-run homer over the left field wall to cut the score to 5-3.

Keith Ezersky and Zachary T. Uher began the sixth inning with a single each to set up Tejeda for his second homer of the season.

The Bears added an insurance run on two hits in the seventh inning and kept the Bearcats off the scoreboard in their final two at-bats to secure the victory.

The Bearcats scored their three runs on six hits, while the Bears scored six run on 13 hits. Neither team committed an error.

Lead-off hitter Anthony DeFillippo led the Bears by batting 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored.

The baseball team will resume their conference schedule on Saturday, April 5, with a doubleheader at The City College of New York. First pitch at Salesian High School in New Rochelle, New York is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
