The baseball team swept a CUNYAC doubleheader (W 8-2, W 4-1) from CCNY on Sunday afternoon at MCU Park in Brooklyn, New York.

Paul Perez earned his third win of the season in the first game to help post an 8-2 victory. The junior pitched a complete game (7 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) and recorded his 100th career strikeout in the first inning to help the team win at the minor league baseball stadium used by the popular Brooklyn Cyclones.

The Bearcats took control early with four runs through the fourth inning and added a
John Yuksekol homer in the seventh for the conference road win.

Matthew Ballone starred again in the win by batting 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored. Philip Loprete also had three hits going 3-for-4 with one run scored.

Zachary T. Uher had a pair of RBI singles and Juan Balbuena reached home plate twice in the victory.

In the second game,
Andrew Lizardi almost pitched a perfect game but fell just two outs short in the seventh inning to nearly accomplish one of the toughest feats in baseball.

Lizardi finished with a complete game (7 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K) as he and Perez combined to keep the bullpen quiet all afternoon in Coney Island.

Angel Tejeda started the scoring in the fourth inning with a two run triple to bring home Nicholas Pomo-Roman and Ballone.

During the fifth inning,
Yuksekol scored on a fielding error and Ballone smacked an RBI ground out to score
Richard Valerio to round out the scoring on a warm afternoon.

The baseball team will return to action on Tuesday, April 8 with a home game against FDU-Florham. First pitch at MCU Park is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
