Men's Soccer Clinches Quarterfinal Round Home Playoff Match, Defeat Hunter 2-0

The men's soccer team scored two second half goals to defeat rival Hunter College Hawks, 2-0, in a CUNYAC contest on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island Field #75.

Myles Bent broke open the scoring in the 48th minute on a penalty kick. Hunter was called for a handball inside the box and Bent stepped up with the PK to score his fourth goal of the season.

Diego Alvarado scored the second goal in the 72nd minute to put the match out of reach for the Hawks. Stanley Goldberg started the scoring play with a free kick that found a charging Edward Humphreys inside the box. Humphreys headed the ball into the direction of Alvarado, who converted a shot from six yards out for the 2-0 lead and win.

Xavier Carrillo earned his second career shutout this season.

The Bearcats won the match with various Baruch student-athletes in attendance as part of the SAAC buddy support system.

The victory also helps the team clinch a quarterfinal round playoff home match on Wednesday, October 28, at 6pm at Randall's Island Field #10. The exact opponent is yet to be determined.

The team will finish their regular season schedule on Wednesday, October 21, with a CUNYAC road match versus CCNY at 3:00 pm scheduled for Field #80 at Randall's Island.
