Men's Volleyball Splits CUNYAC Multi-Match

The men's volleyball team went 1-1 in the CUNYAC Multi-Match on Monday at Hunter College.

The No. 10 ranked Bearcats started with a tough five-set loss to rival Hunter College Hawks. They began with a 25-19 win opening set win, but fell behind losing the next two sets with scores of 27-25, 25-22.

They battled back in the fourth set, 25-21, to force the exciting fifth-set tie-breaker. Unfortunately, the Hawks pulled out the win and took possession of first place with a 15-12 score to clinch the fifth-set victory.


Nick Smith had a big match with 19 kills, 12 digs and four blocks. Brady Ambro had 17 kills and Braden Carter 10 kills, hitting .667, to lead the attack this morning. Taylor Higgs was big in the back with 16 digs.

In the second match, the team bounced back by defeating the Cougars of Medgar Evers College in three with scores of 25-7, 25-3, 25-4 to improve their CUNYAC record to 4-1.


Jacob Mareschal Rudin led the attack with 10 kills (.500) and Ambro finished with seven. Bryan Fong collected seven digs on the defensive end, while Brian Coniglio dished out a season-high 29 assists.

The Bearcats will continue their conference schedule on Thursday, February 19, with a 7:00 pm match at the College of Staten Island.
