Bearcats Fall to SUNY-Maritime on PK in Overtime (2-1)

The men's soccer team lost on Sunday afternoon to SUNY-Maritime on a penalty kick goal in the sixth minute of the first overtime in a non-conference match played in the Throggsneck section of the Bronx.

The loss drops to the Bearcats to 2-2, while the Privateers improve by the same record to 2-2.

Myles Bent scored his second goal of the season and gave the visiting Bearcats a 1-0 lead only 39 seconds into the match via a penalty kick.

The Bearcats kept pushing to increase the lead but the home team tied the match 11 minutes later on a through ball that enabled Sheick Wattara to score.

The two teams finished the regulation tied and entered overtime, which came to a swift end when a penalty kick was awarded to the Privateers in the 96th minute. They scored on the attempt by Colton Gallt to secure the dramatic non-conference home win.

The Bearcats will next begin the CUNYAC portion of their schedule on Saturday, September 19, with a 1:00 pm home contest at the Met Oval versus the College of Staten Island.
