Men's Volleyball Drops Season Opener to Rivier

The men's volleyball team suffered a season-opening loss in four sets to the Raiders of Rivier University on Friday night at the Kean Invitational in Union, New Jersey.

The Raiders started by winning the first two sets (20-25, 19-25), but the Bearcats came back in the third winning a tight one, 30-28.

The two teams battled back-and-forth in the fourth set, but the Raiders narrowly won, 23-25, for the overall victory.

Brady Ambro led the attack this evening with 17 kills. Stephen Roach recorded his intercollegiate debut with 15 kills. Scott Standring had 46 assists and Taylor Higgs collected 17 digs in the tough loss.

Rivier finished hitting .256 with 57 kills, while the Bearcats hit .167 with 50 kills.

The Bearcats will return to action tomorrow morning at the Kean Invitational with a 10 a.m. match versus No. 3-ranked Nazareth College, followed by the Wentworth Institute of Technology at 4 p.m.
