Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Outstanding Bench Support Leads Men's Basketball to Big Win at #24 Brooklyn

The men's basketball team picked up a quality conference win on Friday night with a 97-89 victory at No. 24 nationally-ranked Brooklyn College.

Five different players scored in double-figures and the team connected on 12 threes, including 6-of-11 during the second half, for their fourth win in the past five games.

The visiting Bearcats also received a large contribution off the bench with 48 total points, compared to eight by the Bulldogs.

They led by seven points at halftime (42-35) and owned the momentum at the start of the second half by scoring the first seven points within the first two minutes to lead 49-35.

The lead would grow to as much as 21 points (76-55) with 10:59 left on a three by
Ryan Markoe.

The Bulldogs did not go quietly and went on a furious rally to get as close as six (92-86) with 27 seconds left, but Markoe
and Doyin Isaac each scored a pair of free throws to seal the win.

Isaac established another career-high this evening with 24 points (9-10 FT), which included 15 in the first half to help jump out to the comfortable halftime advantage.

Chimaechi Ekekeugbor scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half and narrowly missed a double-double by one rebound.

Markoe finished with 15 points (12 in second half), while
William Sixsmith scored a career-high 14 points (4-for-5, 3fg) off the bench. Raymond De La Cruz also had a very busy night with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Jamel Gist led the Bulldogs with 30 points and William Lorenzo had 26 points in the home loss.

The men's basketball team will hit the road on Monday, January 11, for a 7:00 pm non-conference contest at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. This game will feature live stats and video.
