Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Inaugural SpikeFest: NYU 3, Baruch 1

The men's volleyball team lost their Inaugural Spikefest and season home opener to the No. 8-ranked Violets of New York University in four sets (25-23, 20-25, 17-25, 12-25) on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats started strong with a 25-23 opening set win, but the visiting Violets took control the rest of the match en route to the win.

The Violets hit .243 with 51 total kills, compared to .039 by the Bearcats with 33 kills.

Thomas Leslein led the Bearcats with seven kills and eight digs, while Jacob Mareschal Rudin, Samuel Rabidoux and Nathaniel Chin each tallied five kills.

Brian Coniglio dished out 24 assists in the tough home loss.

Nick Benson led three Violets in double-figures with 16 kills to go along with eight digs and three aces.

The Bearcats will begin their CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) schedule at home on Saturday, February 6, as they welcome the entire conference for the first of four Multi-Matches this season.

The team will play Brooklyn College at 12 p.m., followed by the College of Staten Island at 2 p.m.
