Men's Volleyball Escapes With 5 Set Win at John Jay

The men's volleyball team got a big scare and won in five sets against the third place Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice on Tuesday night at John Jay's Doghouse in New York City.

The Bloodhounds jumped out to a 2-1 set lead, but the visiting Bearcats rallied to win the final two sets to walk off with the hard fought five set victory (16-25, 27-25, 24-26, 25-20, 15-7).

Neither team hit the ball this evening (Bar .088, JJ .097), but the Bearcats did enough in the final two sets to avert the loss.

Scott Standring notched a career-high 17 kills, while Brady Ambro had 13 kills (plus 14 digs) and Nicholas Godino five.

Man Wai Choi provided a spark off the bench with five aces.

Juan DeJesus led the Bloodhounds with 15 kills and 10 digs.

The Bearcats will face the Bloodhounds quickly again on Saturday, March 26, at the CUNYAC Multi-Match hosted by York College. The team will play the Bloodhounds at 3 p.m., followed by York at 5 p.m.
