Softball Sweeps CUNYAC Doubleheader Against York

The softball team swept a CUNYAC doubleheader against the Cardinals of York College with scores of 9-0 and 17-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Padavan-Prellers Field in Queens.

The two teams were originally scheduled to play this past Sunday, March 19, but it was postponed by weather concerns and rescheduled to today.

Rookie Cassandra Lagana was a star on the mound and plate in the first game. She batted 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while pitching five innings with no runs allowed and seven strikeouts.

Rookie Olivia Dellston also had a big game batting 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.

The visiting Bearcats scored seven runs in the first two innings en route to the five-inning win.

In the second game, Lagana starred again batting 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI.

Nicole Bellini scored two runs and tallied three RBI, while Jessica Piccolino scored three runs in a game for the second straight day.

Rookies Kaitlyn Vichas and Dellston finished with two hits each in the five inning win to stretch the team's winning streak to three in a row.

Juliann Gross earned the game two win in relief by pitching three innings with two runs allowed and one strikeout. She helped herself at the plate by also scoring three runs.
