Men's Soccer Comeback Produces Exciting 3-2 OT Win vs Medgar Evers

The men's soccer defeated the Cougars of Medgar Evers College on Saturday afternoon in dramatic fashion by tying the match late in regulation and scoring the overtime winner for a 3-2 final score at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.

The Bearcats started strong with
Colby Aranibar finding the back of the net in the 15th minute off double assists by William Rosales and Michael Kaniatyn. Rosales started the scoring play from the left wing with a pass to Kaniatyn, who then slotted the ball perfectly to an open Aranibar from the top of the box for the opening goal.

The visiting Cougars scored 10 minutes later to tie the contest and took a 2-1 lead in the 61st minute.

The Bearcats kept pounding the Cougars' defense for the tying goal and their effort was rewarded in the 89th minute as a
Jaime Zurro corner kick found Dortion Alipaj for a header to send the bench and crowd into jubilation with the tie.

The men's soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, September 21, with a 6 p.m. CUNYAC home contest against rival Hunter College at Randall's Island Field #10.
