Late Surge Lifts William Paterson Over Bearcats

The men's soccer team dropped a 5-2 contest to the Pioneers of William Paterson University on Monday night at Randall's Island.

The visiting Pioneers struck first in the 6th minute and added another in the 25th minute for a 2-0 lead.

The Bearcats quickly responded a minute later to cut the deficit to 2-1 with Cormac Foley scoring on a cross into the box by Frank Iacovano .

They tied the match in the 58th minute on an Austin Tucker chip shot that was assisted by Shane Rafferty.

The Bearcats kept pressing for the go-ahead goal and had numerous chances, but were unable to score.

The Pioneers took advantage of their chances, scoring in the 63rd, 69th and 73rd minute to walk away with the 5-2 road win. Dante Petrocelli scored twice and assisted on their first goal to lead the Pioneers.

Tucker led the Bearcats attack again with five shots, which included his 58th minute goal.

With the results, the Bearcat drop to 7-7 while the Pioneers improve to 10-4-2.
