Softball Team Takes on Mount St. Vincent in Doubleheader

The Bearcats lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader to the Dolphins from the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday afternoon at Randall's Island.

The Dolphins won with scores of 8-1 and 5-0. The second game was stopped in the seventh inning, due to darkness.

In the first game, the visiting Bearcats took the lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Cassandra Lagana to plate Juliann Gross. The Dolphins responded and scored runs in the fourth inning, along with four in the sixth for the 8-1 victory.

Lagana, Gross, Christina Chin, Olivia Dellston and Danielle Zurek each had a single. Kristen Podlovits reached base twice via a pair of walks.

In the second game, the Dolphins scored five runs on 14 hits for the 5-0 non-conference victory.

The Bearcats will resume their schedule on Tuesday, March 28, as they will host Old Westbury in their homer opener at Randall's Island Field #12. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
