Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

CUNYAC Quarterfinal Result: Bearcats 2, CCNY 1 (OT); Shaiem Allah Morad Scores Winner

The men's soccer team defeated the Beavers of CCNY, 2-1, in a CUNYAC quarterfinal round home match on Wednesday evening at Randall's Island Field #70.

Shaiem Allah Morad scored the sudden death winning goal in the fourth minute of the first overtime. Andy Figueroa slotted a perfect long ball to Morad, who beat the goalkeeper for the walk-off winner.

The two teams played a nearly even match in regulation with the Bearcats getting on the scoreboard first early in the 11th minute. Cormac Foley scored after a pass by Luiz Munoz set him up for the goal.

The visiting Beavers tied it in the 34th minute on a well-struck free kick by Bubacarr Jaiteh from about 25 yards.

The two teams had opportunities to break the deadlock during the second half, but regulation ended 1-1 and forced overtime where the Morad and Figueroa heroics came alive.

"CCNY came out with a lot of heart tonight and played a great match," said Baruch Head Coach Dima Kamenshchik. "Our team worked very hard and scored two terrific goals to send us to the semifinal round. We will enjoy the win tonight, but get back to work tomorrow getting ready for Hunter."

The Bearcats advance to CUNYAC Semifinals on Saturday to take on Hunter College at Randall's Island Field #10. The kickoff time is TBA and will be posted as soon as possible.
