Women's Volleyball Defeats William Paterson in Five Exciting Sets

Box Score The women's volleyball team improved their record to 4-1 with an exciting home win against the Pioneers of William Paterson University on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats started very sluggish, falling behind 12-3 in the first set, en route to losing 25-12.

They quickly bounced back to win the next two sets (25-21, 25-9), and hit .577 in winning the third.

The visiting Pioneers from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) battled back to win the fourth set. The two teams were tied 20-20, but the Pioneers scored five of the last seven points to force the tie-breaker by winning 25-22.

The Pioneers started better in the tie-breaker jumping out to a quick 5-1 lead, but the Bearcats kept their composure, received timely hitting, and won 17-15 to notch the tough win.

Anita Sengara was pivotal again with 26 kills and Yijia Cai had 13 kills. Sanaa Hadjeb fed the attack all night with a career-high 40 assists.

Six different players tallied at least 10 digs behind the efforts of Wai Chang (24), Young Gi Go (20), Sengara (17), Hadjeb (15), Ada Cao (14), and Anesa Feratovic (11).

Alyson Toman led the visitors with 18 kills.
