MVB Drop Season Opener at St. Francis (NY)

The men's volleyball team lost in three (23-25, 21-25, 18-25) to the Terriers of St. Francis College of Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon at the Genovosi Center.

Despite the scoreline, the match was very competitive with the host Terriers pulling away late in each set to record their inaugural home opener win in their first season of Division I volleyball.

Steven Lopez and Meni Musheyev (.385) led the Bearcats' attack with six kills each. Musheyev, last year's NCAA Division III leader in blocks per set (1.471), started the season tallying two blocks today.

Edward Grinberg had 18 assists and Rabsang Andrugtsang collected seven digs.

The Terriers hit .365 (48 kills) compared to .205 (25 kills) by the visiting Bearcats

David Vorfi led the Terriers with 13 kills (.409) and two aces.

The Bearcats will resume action next weekend in Rhode Island at the Johnson & Wales Invitational. They start play Friday night against Johnson & Wales (4:00 p.m.)  and M.I.T. (8:00 p.m.).
