Bearcats Split in Opening Day of Johnson & Wales Invitational

The men's volleyball team is in Providence, Rhode Island this weekend to compete at the Johnson & Wales Invitational.

The Bearcats started by defeating the hosts Johnson & Wales with scores of 27-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-22.

Artem Zinkin had a major match with 19 kills and six digs. Meni Mesheyev added 11 kills with five blocks, while Edward Grinberg dished out 39 assists as the Bearcats earned their first win of the season.

In the late night match against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Bearcats fell in four tough sets with scores of 20-25, 25-23, 18-25, 17-25. 

Zinkin led the attack again 11 kills and Musheyev added six kills and four blocks. Defeng Han collected nine digs.

The Bearcats will resume action on Saturday morning with an 11:00 a.m. match against No. 14-ranked University of California, Santa Cruz.

They will then play Keuka College at 1:00 p.m.
