Women's Tennis Wins CUNYAC Championship! Earn Berth to NCAA Tournament Next May

The women's tennis team won the 2021 CUNYAC Championship by defeating Hunter College, 5-2, on Thursday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.

The Bearcats win their first CUNYAC title and NCAA berth since 2016. They also win their seventh CUNYAC title in team history.

Ava Deguzman was named the Finals MVP after quickly winning her doubles and singles encounters. The 2021 CUNYAC Regular Season Player of the Year is now a perfect 13-0 in singles and doubles this season.

The Bearcats will play in next May's 2022 NCAA Championship Tournament.

Erica Sheludenko recorded the fifth winning point to clinch the championship win. Per post-season rules, the match was halted upon the first team to score five points.
