The men's volleyball team lost in three sets to NYU in their home opener on Tuesday Night in the ARC Arena.
The visiting Violets totaled 34 kills hitting .231 compared to the Bearcats with 25 kills hitting .132.
NYU hit .306 in the second set and broke open a tight 18-16 score by scoring seven of the final 10 points for the 25-19 win.
The Bearcats battled in the third set and were as close late at 23-22,. but the Violets notched two of the last three points for the narrow 25-23 third set win.
Jack Centeno led the Bearcats this evening with six kills and 12 digs.
Stallone Shankar, who earlier today was named
the CUNYAC Pre-Season Player of the Year, dished out 18 assists in the tough home loss to the Violets who are currently ranked 10th in the NCAA Division AVCA III poll.
Ryan Li had 20 assists, while Lucas Osiecki and Luke Boyer had eight kills each for the visitors from Greenwich Village.
